  1. Thursday 4th March

Thursday 4th March - World Book Day 2021

Today is World Book Day! We would like you to choose any of the provided activities to complete as well as choosing some from this list:

  • Dress up as your favourite book character and send us a photo
  • Make a den at home and read your favourite/current book
  • Present a book review to your parents/siblings recommending your book, explaining why they should read it too
  • Order your books from your favourite to least favourite
  • Walk or look outside and capture the scene in your head. Could you think of a short story based on this scene? Think of your favourite genre and note some ideas down for your first best-selling novel!
  • Research about your favourite author and find out why they became an author. Would you like to write your own story?

BBC Live Lesson

Follow the link to watch CBBC’s Ben Shires and Bitesize Daily’s Mr Smith host a live lesson all about story themes and how to identify them. You can also share your favourite stories and themes and watch interviews with some famous authors, including some through live Q&A’s!

The live lesson begins at 11.30am and is available at https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/live-lessons/world-book-day-2021-live-lesson/z2thm39

Please download the attached sheet to work through during the lesson or have your printed sheet ready from the work pack. Let the BBC know you are watching, don’t forget to mention what school you are from. Email them at live.lessons@bbc.co.uk – they would also like to know your favourite stories, themes and authors and what questions you would ask an author. Your question may be asked!

Enjoy!
