Activities

Use the list of common exception below to write a story. Each time you use a word correctly, give yourself 1 point! If you get to 10 you will receive a prize back in school!

2. Design a habitat for an insect of your choice. Remember to research the species before hand so all it's needs are met.
3. Design and  make a simple sketch map of the human (man-made features such as shops, churches etc)  and physical features (natural features such as rivers, fields, moss etc) in your local area.
4. You have a budget of £50. You need to do a weekly shop and you cannot spend a penny over £50! Write a shopping list of what you would buy in order to live a healthy lifestyle. 
5. Make a poster about the importance of staying clean.
6. Write a diary entry of a day at home. Remember to use your capital letters, full stops and to keep your handwriting beautiful! Try and use powerful adjectives, adverbs, fronted adverbials (don't forget your comma) and prepositional phrases (describing the position of things).

Reading

Read a new book. Write a book review using the sheet below - this could be printed out or completed in your exercise book.

Rewrite the book in your own words and make it even better.

Remember to use fronted adverbials, speech (remember the speech marks), powerful verbs and the past tense!

Design your own front cover and write a blurb to summarise your story and make a reader interested in reading on!

Can you make up some questions about your story for a friend or family member to answer?
